Highland Park Elementary School — Renovation & Expansion Manchester, CT

The LRC Group provided site design and engineering services as part of a design team with Moser Pilon Nelson Architects for the Highland Park School, an existing elementary school with a student population of roughly 280 students. The school was originally built in 1928 and was expanded by a substantial addition in 1964.

The design intent was to “renovate as new” as required to meet the State of Connecticut Bureau of School Facilities requirements. Although many site improvements will be improved or updated “in place”, the project will include substantial improvements for accessibility including pedestrian routes, parking and play areas, elimination of bus and automobile functions, expansion of visitor parking facilities, and stormwater management systems.

Construction began in the Summer of 2011 and is on schedule to be completed in the Summer of 2012.
